Gibsons BC at a glance
Gibsons is the southern gateway to the Sunshine Coast. It sits on a slope above Howe Sound, close to the ferry terminal at Langdale, and its lower part around the harbour is known as Lower Gibsons. The town is known as the setting of the television series The Beachcombers. For a day out from Vancouver without a car, the Vancouver day tours and Sunshine Coast trips page shows what can be booked, and the ferry does the rest.
Gibsons is the first town you reach after the crossing, and Roberts Creek lies further along the coast towards Sechelt. Sunshine Coast bus route 1 serves Langdale, Gibsons and Roberts Creek, so the two fit into one day. The details are further down this page.

Lower Gibsons: harbour, market and public art
The lower town is small enough to see on foot.
Gibsons Public Market
The market is at 473 Gower Point Road in Lower Gibsons, with a view over the harbour and marina. Regular hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and it is closed on Mondays. The market and the aquarium are separate attractions, so the aquarium has its own admission.
The Public Art Path
The town's art path links the area around Gibsons Creek with Lower Gibsons and the waterfront. Stops include the town hall, the library, the public market and several art venues. One example is the Wooden Mural by Cambria Logan at the Mahan trailhead near Gibsons Way, made of cedar and fir and installed in 2022.
Murals on the art walk map
The town art walk includes the Molly's Lane graffiti walls and the Armours Beach mural. A nearby landmark from the filming history of The Beachcombers is worth a look, but check locally before you plan a meal there.

Soames Hill
Soames Hill is a regional park above the town with a trail network of roughly 4 to 5 km. The east stairs have 434 steps, and several viewpoints look out over Howe Sound and the coast. The distance counts all trails in the park, so it is not a single summit loop. Dogs must be on a leash.
Wear proper shoes and take water. For longer walks near Roberts Creek, the hiking page lists the forest trails of Cliff Gilker Park and the walks on Mount Elphinstone.

End the day at the pier
The village pier is at the lower end of Roberts Creek Road, and the view over the Strait of Georgia suits the evening. Check the tide table first, because the sandbar to the beach is walkable only at low tide.
